After much prayer, discussion, and collaboration, the Hosanna Homeschool Choir presents the following plan for the 2020 fall semester. All the policies and procedures that follow have been developed from a place of love and concern for our choir families and are in line with the guidelines set forth by the state and by Woodland Baptist Church. Although we all are at liberty to lead our own families in different ways at home and in our personal and social lives, the board has an obligation to lead in a way that it determines is best for the collective group. Our desire is to be able to continue to provide a quality music experience to homeschool students of all ages while still being wise and prudent for this present time. Our prayer is that our families would show their support of Hosanna Homeschool Choir in their enthusiasm for and cooperation in the upcoming semester.

Tentative Concert Date: Friday, December 4
Choir Meeting Times:
All choirs will continue to meet on Thursdays through the semester with a break for Thanksgiving Day. As our registration numbers become more concrete, the board will determine which space within the church building would be best suited for each choir. This assignment of space may make it necessary to stagger the choir start times by 5 or 10 minutes. Information about exact starting times and entrance and exit procedures will be updated as soon as the registration numbers are firm. Choir rehearsals will all run within these approximate time frames.
Sonshine: 45 minutes within the 1:30-2:30 time frame
The students will be asked to wear masks when walking through the shared spaces of the church building. Masks will also be required for at least parts of rehearsal times. During this semester, each director will split the rehearsal time between music education and singing/learning new songs. The number of songs that each choir will learn and perform through the semester will be less than in years past. By utilizing more time for music education this semester, we can easily shift to a digital or virtual format if that should become necessary. Our goal is to continue to provide lessons online through the end of semester should we be forced to stop our in-person rehearsals.
The building will only be available to families for the use of the restrooms. Masks will be required for families needing to enter the building for restroom usage as entrances and pathways are shared spaces with Woodland staff. There will not be any shared, social spaces within the building available to choir students and/or their families this semester.
Outdoor spaces may be used by choirs and by choir families, however, social distancing must be maintained. If social distancing is not possible, masks must be worn.
It is unclear at this time if Hosanna will be able to host a concert in December. Our scheduled concert date is Friday, December 4, and is expected to feature Christmas music. If an in-person concert is not possible, the board will work toward creating a virtual and/or recorded concert.
Illness Policy and Choir Attendance:
In accordance with Hosanna’s established illness policy, the board would ask that any student experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness not attend choir. While attendance has always been very important, students will not be penalized for several absences resulting from illness. Communication with the directors regarding an absence will still be required.
Parent volunteers will still play a vital role in helping our rehearsal times run smoothly. Volunteers will be needed for Sonshine and Celebration Choirs and possibly for other roles should they become necessary. The board asks that parents sign up to help two times throughout the semester.
Changes in Choir Policies or Procedures:
As the semester progresses, the need to alter policies or procedures may arise. The board will attempt to communicate any necessary changes in a timely manner.
